In December of 2022, the US Census Bureau designated a portion of the core area of the Mat-Su Borough as an Urban Area. This Urban Area Designation puts into motion a one-year timeline to stand up a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to facilitate local transportation planning within the Urban Area. We look forward to sharing more info about the functions of an MPO and gaining input from the community to help guide this process.
